Transfer Round-Up: 29th May 2015

Chelsea

The Daily Mirror is saying that Jose Mourinho is considering hijacking Liverpool’s pursuit of Christian Benteke, as the Belgian seems destined to leave Aston Villa this summer.

The same paper is also convinced that Chelsea are looking to bring in Asmir Begovic to replace Petr Cech as Thibaut Courtois’s number two at Stamford Bridge.

 Manchester City

Manchester City’s pursuit of Kevin De Bruyne has received a boost after the Belgian confirmed he wouldn’t return to Stamford Bridge as long as Jose Mourinho is the manager, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Over at The Daily Mail they reckon that City are looking at Aston Villa’s starlet Jack Grealish. That adds to the list of youngsters City are meant to be looking at, including Raheem Sterling, Jack Wilshere and Ross Barkley.

Arsenal

The Daily Express are reporting that Arsenal and Liverpool are going to head-to-head over the signing of the Porto striker Jackson Martinez. The Columbian striker scored 21 goals in Portugal last season, so it’s no wonder they’re both keen on him.

Meanwhile the Manchester Evening News say that Manchester City haven’t yet given up hope of persuading James Milner from renewing his contract there, despite interest from Arsenal and Liverpool. It seems those two may be fighting over similar players all summer long.

Manchester United

With David De Gea almost certainly moving on to Real Madrid this summer, it seems the Spanish giants are trying to tempt United to sell by including Keylor Navas in the deal. The Real reserve ‘keeper seems keen to stay in Spain and fight for his place, though. So says the Manchester Evening News.

The Metro are reporting that Manchester United are favourites to sign Sevilla’s striker Carlos Bacca for £21.3 million. Meanwhile The Daily Star are saying that Ilkay Gundogan has declared he’d rather sign for the Red Devils than Arsenal.

Spurs

ESPN are saying that Danny Ings wants his future resolved before the U21 Euros, with Tottenham and Liverpool going to battle for his signature. Spurs have already had a £12m offer accepted, but rumours are that he’d prefer a move to the Reds.

The London club have already announced the signing of the 22-year-old Austrian defender from the German team FC Koln.

Liverpool

The Daily Telegraph are reporting that Christian Benteke has a release clause of £32.5m that the Reds are likely to trigger after the FA Cup Final.

It’s been stated in The Daily Mirror that Liverpool are ready to go to battle against Manchester United for the signing of both Nico Gaitan and Nathaniel Clyne. The Reds need to replace Glen Johnson and they want to add goals, so these two players make sense for them.

Southampton

Sky Sports are reporting that Schneiderlin has told French radio he will only leave Southampton for a Champion’s League club, whilst the club itself is preparing a battle for Nathanial Clyne.

Swansea

Wales Online are saying that Swansea might struggle to keep hold of Ki Sung-Yeung this season as Arsenal are preparing a bid for the midfielder, whilst they also feel that the Swans are edging closer to the signing of Saint Etienne’s Franck Tabanou.

Stoke

Sky Sports have confirmed that Stoke have singed Philipp Wollschield on a permanent deal after his successful loan spell at The Britannia, plus they think that Mark Hughes is hopeful of keeping Asmir Begovic, despite interest from both Chelsea and Manchester United.

Crystal Palace

The Daily Mirror is saying that most of Palace’s business so far is about shifting players out, rather than bringing anyone in. Bolasie, Mariappa and Dwight Gale are all rumoured to be on their way out of the club, with only Pardew’s ex-Newcastle forward Papiss Cisse on their radar as things stand.

Everton

Speaking of Palace, Everton are one of the teams that are meant to be looking at Yannick Bolasie, and the Toffees seem ready to meet Crystal Palace’s £15m asking price.

The Liverpool Echo are saying that Everton are also interested in Fulham’s 18-year-old triker Moussa Dembele, whilst Cardiff City are meant to be readying a bid for Everton’s youngster Tyias Browning.

West Ham

The biggest news going on at West Ham so far this summer is their search for a new manager, with Rafa Benitez surprisingly turning down the Hammers in order to move to Real Madrid. David Moyes, though, seems to be high on David Gold’s hit list as he’s looking for a return to the Premier League.

The Daily Mirror also say that both Carlton Cole and Jussi Jaaskelainen have been released by the Hammers as they gear up for a summer of spending – once they know who the boss is that will be doing the spending.

West Brom

The Express And Star are reporting that West Brom could reignite their interest in Peter Crouch this summer, with Tony Pulis reported to be a fan of the target man. It could be a much needed signing as Lille are interested in West Brom’s top target Jordan Ayew, according to TalkSport.

Leicester

The Leicester Mercury are saying that Nigel Pearson is ready to celebrate the Midland club staying in the Premier League by signing Liverpool’s Sebastian Coates. He also wants Esteban Cambiasso to extend his stay at the club, something that seems possible given the way the Argentinian celebrated the club’s stay of execution from the country’s top table.

Newcastle

The Daily Mirror are reporting that Moussa Sissoko has turned down a Champion’s League club in order to stay in the North-East and try to return Newcastle to better times. They also say that the Magpies have made contact with Crystal Palace over a £15m move for Yannick Bolasie.

Sunderland

With Sunderland confirming that Dick Advocaat won’t continue as their manager next season, the club’s first job is to bring in a new guy at the top of the chain. Until that is decided it seems that the only piece of business the Mackems will be doing any time soon is the renewal of Santiago Vergini’s contract.

Aston Villa

The biggest transfer business going on at The Villa this summer is the sale of Christian Benteke, with Tim Sherwood unlikely to look to do much business until he knows how much he’s going to receive in exchange for the Belgian international.

Bournemouth

The Daily Mail are reporting that Eddie Howe has signed Blackburn’s Norwegian striker Joshua King on a free transfer. He joins both Artur Boruc and Adam Federici, the goalkeepers signing from Southampton and Reading respectively.

Watford

According to Sky Sports news the Hornets have signed Heurelho Gomes to a new 3-year deal. They’re sure to want to add more to the roster as the summer goes on too, but it’s early doors for the Premier League’s new boys.

Norwich

The first piece of business for the Championship play-off winners is to sign West Bromwich Albion’s midfielder Graham Dorrans on a two-year loan deal. The 28-year-old had been on loan at Norwich since February, coming off the bench during the play-off final against Middlesbrough.
